Research Analyst

Part-time and Full-time availability
Supervisor:  Chief Technical Officer

The Research Analyst maintains, expands, and analyzes Thinc’s mergers and acquisitions prospect database, developing leads through research.  This position will provide research and analytics support for client project and for Thinc Strategy. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, analytical professional, and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment.  This person is an analytical thinker, with experience in creating complex models that can be translated into multiple industries. Role & Responsibilities:

  • Skilled research of new targets including understanding their industry, specific search criteria and ability qualify new leads
  • Client project research support
    • Market
    • Industry
    • Geographic
    • Product or service, benchmark data, and other data necessary
  • Upload all research into a customer relationship management system
  • Update and expand Thinc prospects to support business development team
  • Run reports, and provide analytical feedback
  • Maintain an organized filing system
  • Uphold a strict level of confidentiality
  • Maintain a level of professionalism with clients and staff

3+ years of experience doing business research and analytics

Business Broker

Reports to:  CEO

The Business Broker maintains, expands, and analyzes Thinc’s mergers and acquisitions prospect database, developing leads through business development activities. 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated professional, and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced corporate environment.  This person is an analytical thinker, with experience in creating complex models that can be translated into multiple industries. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company with competitive compensation.

Our process and this role’s responsibilities includes:

  • Understanding the acquisition or sellers strategy
    • Cultural alignment
    • Valuation and deal structure
    • Geographic locations
    • Return on investment
    • Buyer or Seller’s goals, business, and performance
    • Buyers acquisition strategy and Sellers exit strategy
    • Risks associated with the business
    • Identifying red flags that could derail a sale later in the process
  • Researching and contacting prospects
    • Identify prospects based on criteria
    • Reach out to potential firms who may or may not be on the market
    • Screen prospects to determine cultural fit
    • Gather a detailed profile that includes:
      • Owner exit plans
      • Annual revenue and profit
      • Potential risk factors
    • Review prospects with client and make recommendations
  • Making introductions
    • Facilitate an introductory call
    • Coordinate each party signing a mutual non-disclosure agreement
    • Prepare client for the call
    • Set an advanced agenda included in the meeting invitation
    • Work with you to determine next steps with each prospect
      • If you are interested in continuing to pursue the prospect, we will begin gathering additional detailed information
      • If you are not interested in continuing a dialog, we will inform the seller
  • Gather information
    • Financial
    • Contracts
    • Any information required to get to a letter of intent phase
  • When negotiating the value, the role will bring in Thinc subject matter experts to assist with technical details and recommendations.  This role will stay engaged as a client relationship leader but will hand off technical advisory
  • Once the engagement is in due diligence, this role hands off to the due diligence team with again, broker staying involved throughout to touch base

5+ years of experience in sales and brokerage
