Dave Whitmire brings his expertise of setting strategic directions to the Thinc Strategy team as the CEO. Dave provides leadership for all aspects of Thinc’s operations with an emphasis on long-term goals and growth. Most recently Dave was the President, Solutions Group; Executive Vice President, Strategy & Operations at Now Vertical, inc. While there he grew the services portfolio from $500K to over $50M through acquisition and organic growth in under two years. As a successful planner, strategist, and leader, Mr. Whitmire has been a driving force in the Special Operations and US Intelligence community as both a uniformed officer in our nation’s military, and in the private sector. He has extensive experience working with partner-government, and commercial sector organizations to forecast, assess, and acquire critical capabilities in the “global commons” of Sea, Air, Land, and Cyber. Dave has over 28 years of Special Operations, and combat arms experience leading DOD and interagency cross-functional teams in dynamic and uncertain environments.
A decorated combat veteran, Mr. Whitmire has served in a multitude of leadership, management, and planning capacities in Joint and Army Special Forces operational units conducting Unconventional Warfare, Counter-Terrorism, Foreign Internal Defense, Direct Action, and Special Reconnaissance missions. He was selected LTG McChrystal and VADM McRaven to lead a global network of intelligence and operations officers to conduct analysis and plan hundreds of US military and interagency actions to defeat threats to the US homeland as the JIATF-CT Director. His last assignment before leaving active service was as the J5 Plans and Futures Division Chief for the Joint Special Operations Command.
Additionally, he has served as a subject matter expert testing and developing emerging technology for use on the battlefield as well as serving as an advisor and primary planner for contingency plans in the areas of engineering, logistics, communications, infiltration, and intelligence system development.
He is the editor and contributing author for an annual research paper circulated throughout the intelligence and Special Operations community. Mr. Whitmire has received numerous commendations and awards that include, but are not limited to the Legion of Merit, four Bronze Stars, and four Meritorious Service Medals,
Mr. Whitmire holds Advanced degrees in International Studies, Planning, and Organizational Administration. In Dave’s free time he enjoys being outdoors; biking, scuba diving, sport parachuting, climbing/hiking, and sea kayaking. Dave also loves to spend his time reading and learning.
